Last month, soon after Rockstar released the Festive Surprise update for GTA Online, some players have reported they experience lag when using one or more of the items included in the update.

In particular, some of the new masks included in the Festive Surprise seem to have negatively impacted GTA Online gameplay experience. At that time, Rockstar said that it received a small number of reports regarding this issue and that it would investigate.

Until then though, they have decided to temporarily remove all Valentine’s Day Massacre masks from players’ inventories. It’s unclear how many GTA Online players were affected by this issue and how many lost these masks from their inventory, but it looks like Rockstar has been able to fix the issues.

The announcement came in later December when developer said that the “issue has now been resolved. As a part of the fix, all Valentine's Day Massacre masks have been temporarily removed from players' inventories.

Rockstar says it will announce when all the masks have been delivered

After the GTA Online Festive Surprise period concludes, any players who had one of these masks removed will be gifted all masks from the Valentine's Day Massacre Update (not just the masks that were removed temporarily).

Here is the complete list of the masks affected by this issue: Black Mysterious, White Mysterious, Red Mysterious, Bronze Masquerade, Silver Masquerade, Black and Gold Masquerade, Cupid.

Recently, Rockstar updated the information with new details and announced that they are in the process of granting the Valentine’s Day Massacre Update content to those affected by the mask removal.

This means that beginning today, those who experience issues with the framerate while equipping one of the masks mentioned earlier should receive their Valentine’s Day Massacre masks back.

It’s too early to tell if these masks are now working correctly without dropping the game’s framerate when equipped, but we’ll be keeping an eye on Rockstar forums for reports.
