Grand Theft Auto 5 has just received a brand new cheat detection system, as Rockstar confirms that its fresh mechanic allows easier spotting of GTA Online users who use mods or cheat programs to disrupt the multiplayer fun of other people.

GTA 5 launched back in September of 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360, and then reached the PS4 and Xbox One in November of last year. Finally, it made its PC debut in April, and since then, Rockstar has released quite a few updates, including the big Ill-Gotten Gains one last week.

Unfortunately for the tens of millions of GTA 5 players who enjoy the GTA Online mode, cheating is still rampant and Rockstar itself has admitted that it's impossible to stop all those who try to play unfair.

However, this doesn't mean that the developer is no longer trying to keep things fair in GTA 5's multiplayer mode. Quite the opposite, as Rockstar confirms on its Newswire that a brand new cheat detection system has just been implemented in the open-world experience.

According to the studio, the new tool allows it to more easily detect GTA Online users who use mods, trainers, or other tools to gain an unfair advantage in the multiplayer mode. It also warns fans that enabling such things is grounds for punishment, from being put into the cheater matchmaking pool to bans, suspensions, and more.

"As part of our ongoing commitment to combat cheating and griefing, we have recently implemented new systems to allow us to more efficiently detect and target any players found running mods and cheat programs within GTA Online. As a reminder, any attempt to tamper with the behavior of GTA Online by installing or executing mods, scripts, or other exploits, modifying the game files or manipulating the game in any way while it is executing will result in disciplinary action," the studio explains.

As such, if you think about cheating in GTA Online, you'll most definitely get caught by Rockstar sooner or later.
