HTC Hero becomes the Best Mobile Handset or Device

The GSM Association announced today the winners of this year's Global Mobile Awards at the 2010 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. There were winners announced by the Association in a number of 19 categories, on top of which the GSMA announced this year's winner of the Mobile Innovation Grand Prix, which was Ubidyne (US) for Antenna Embedded Radio.

The winners of the competition in the Best Mobile Handset or Device and Best Mobile Game were HTC with HTC Hero, and Iricom with the Last City – Fight For Your Life!, respectively. Also worth noticing is the BlackBerry Enterprise Server v5.0, which received the Best Mobile Enterprise Product or Service award, as well as Novatel Wireless Inc.'s MiFi Intelligent Mobile Hotspot, which received the Best Mobile Connected Device (non-handsets) award. Odyssey Music Group's Deezer, was awarded the Best Mobile Music Service title.

Still in the services area, we can mention the following awards, on categories: Best Mobile TV Service: CBS Mobile – TV.COM; Best Mobile Location Based Advertising Campaign: R/GA – Nokia viNe; Best Mobile Internet Service: adaffix Gmbh – YELLIX; Best Mobile Money Service: Safaricom – M-PESA (bulk payment & utility bill) extension to service; Best Use of Mobile for Social and Economic Development: Grameen Foundation, MTN Uganda, and Google – The Grameen Foundation Application Laboratory (AppLab) Best Mobile Money for the Unbanked Service: Zain Bahrain B.S.C – ZAP The Green Mobile Award for Best Green Programme, Product or Initiative: VNL – VNL’s solar-powered GSM base station Best Network Technology Advance: SkyCross Inc – SkyCross iMAT (isolated mode antenna technology) Antennas Best Service Delivery Platform: Huawei Technologies Co Ltd – Huawei SDP solution Best Billing & Customer Care Solution: Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) – You Individual Optimal Tariff Plan

There is also the Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough award, which went to Orange for their Mobile High Definition (HD) Voice, as well as the Green Network Award, which went to Mocambique Celular S.A.R.L (mcel) – Eco Naturalmente (Naturally Thinking Green). And the aforementioned GSMA’s Mobile Innovation Grand Prix competition, which had as winner Ubidyne (US) for its Antenna Embedded Radio, which was announced at the Mobile World Congress by Stephen Fry.
