The former Security Business Unit of GFI Software has become ThreatTrack Security Inc. The new independent company will dedicate its efforts to the analysis, detection and remediation of sophisticated threats designed to evade traditional protection systems.

Julian Waits, the general manager of GFI’s Business Unit, has been appointed as the CEO of ThreatTrack.

“It’s time for a new approach to malware defence. APTs and other complex malware attacks have enterprises – especially those in globally competitive industries like finance, aerospace, healthcare, technology, and oil and gas exploration – struggling to ensure the integrity of their networks and intellectual property,” Waits said.

“Moreover, many enterprises lack the necessary tools to know with certainty if they are a victim of an APT or other advanced malware strike. ThreatTrack Security was established to help enterprises bolster their cyber security readiness right now.”

Backed by over 10 years of experience, the new company is confident it can successfully mitigate the threats posed by any cybercriminal operations.

“In the coming months, ThreatTrack Security will unveil a new product roadmap that will augment our existing security solutions and enable us to deliver on our promise of a stronger, more secure enterprise cyber-defence,” Waits added.

For now, the company’s solutions include ThreatAnalyzer, VIPRE Business Premium, VIPRE Internet Security and ThreatIQ.

ThreatAnalyzer is an automated malware analysis sandbox that can help organizations protect themselves against zero-days, advanced persistent threats (APTs) and targeted attacks by monitoring files and URLs for suspicious activity.

Currently, the solution is used by government security, intelligence and defense agencies from the US.

ThreatIQ is a solution that allows enterprises to identify and block threats by continually providing malware intelligence.

Finally, VIPRE Business Premium is a business-grade security solution that incorporates mobile device management, antivirus, and integrated patch management. For home-users, the company offers VIPRE Internet Security.
