Today, Mobile phone carrier Vodafone Australia begins the roll-out of Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich to its GALAXY Nexus users.

The update would bring along a variety of bug fixes to the smartphone, along with a series of enhancements, the wireless carrier announced.

The update will be pushed to users in stages, which means that not all users will be able to get a taste of it right from the beginning.

According to the wireless carrier, the software is set to arrive on all handsets within a week, and it will be downloadable only over a wireless connection, be it 3G or WiFi.

Those users who choose to download the update through the wireless carrier’s 3G network won’t have the data deducted from their monthly allowance.

Among the features and improvements that Galaxy Nexus will receive as part of this update, we can count some related to email, messaging and data, along with updated applications, and enhanced device features.

At the same time, the update brings improvements to the phone’s power drain and stability, as well as better SIM PUK unlock behavior, and enhancements to the camera, including continuous autofocus and low-light performance.

Moreover, the new software fixes voice-dialer compatibility with Bluetooth headsets, brings automatic screen brightness, better WiFi Direct compatibility, a fix for an intermittent issue when transitioning out of airplane mode, and support for docks.
