To be used with AM3 790 and 890 platforms

G.Skill might still have some catching up to do before it becomes as well known as Kingston or Corsair on the RAM market, but the gap definitely seems to be narrowing with each new product that the company launches. In fact, not long ago, the memory solution developer unleashed an enthusiast-grade 4GB dual-channel kit that has a maximum frequency of no less than 2,500MHz. Likely seeking to preserve the hype gained from this accomplishment, it has now released a new series of dual-channel DDR3 aimed at overclockers.

For most mainstream users, the DRAM is good enough for many tasks as long as it has a decent capacity of at least 4GB and an operational speed of 1066MHz. For those meaning to push their systems’ performance over the top, however, and have the water cooling mechanism and power supply to keep it operational, a better set of memory modules is needed.

To address this market for high-speed RAM, G.Skill has debuted the Flare Series of DDR3 dual-channel kits meant to be used in systems based on AM3 790 and AM3 890 platforms. The line is currently composed of four such kits, each a pair of 2GB modules operating on 1.65V and at a clock speed of 1800MHz. The only attribute differentiating between the four members is their latency (CL6-8-6-24, CL7-8-7-24, CL8-8-8-24 and CL9-9-9-27, respectively).

According to the manufacturer, the G.Skill Flare Series “has passed a strict testing regime to ensure the best performance and stability” and are to be used even with the latest AMD C3 stepping CPUs, which probably refers to the six-core, Turbo Core-enabled Thuban processors, whose mass availability is imminent.

Unfortunately, even though this was the official introduction of the devices, their prices were not mentioned. Still, these details should not stay hidden for long, considering that the products will likely hit stores soon.
