Focused on delivering external storage solutions engineered to meet the needs of the Apple community, G-Technology (a subsidiary of Hitachi) has introduced  the G-CONNECT, a wireless storage solution for iOS device owners. The hardware allows Apple device owners to access vast libraries of content that are too large to reside on their iPhone’s / iPad’s NAND flash memory.

The G-CONNECT is said to be the first in a family of products providing instant, wireless storage and 802.11n WiFi Internet access for the iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and other devices.

The aim is to provide on-the-go wireless access to content that’s not already loaded on your iOS device - for example, whenever you want to access a folder containing a vast library of photos or videos.

The good thing is that users don’t need an Internet connection to access their files. G-CONNECT provides access not to one, but over five simultaneous devices (depending on the workload) over the air.

The device can also be turned into a WiFi base station when connected to the Internet via Ethernet.

Finally, users will be able to access and view content on the G-CONNECT using a dedicated iOS app which will be available in the App Store next month, G-Technology said.

The G-CONNECT features a white design that complements Apple devices. It will sell for $199.99 in July, and will offer 500GB of storage.

Interested parties can now pre order their own G-CONNECT through www.G-Technology.com.

“With the unprecedented growth in tablets and smartphones, our goal is to deliver solutions that better fit the increasing mobile lifestyle of consumers,” said Mike Williams, vice president and general manager, Hitachi GST Branded Business.

“The mobile devices on which we listen to, work on and view our digital content on are proliferating,” he added, “giving us new freedoms while at the same time creating practical realities.”
