Reports have it she did not like the seating arrangements

Much has been said about Mariah Carey’s sometimes absurd demands but, in all fairness, not much is really known about them, save from what the tabloids are writing, presumably from well-informed sources. Another such rumor is about Mariah’s “diva demands” for Obama’s Presidential Inauguration.

PageSix claims to have it from very reliable and in the know sources that, on such a grand occasion, the singer forgot that she was not supposed to be at the center of people’s attention. Mariah, it seems, let the diva get the best of her, by assuming that she would not be seated with the other celebrities at the Inauguration, but right with the Obama family.

“Mariah was in the VIP area, where every celebrity, like Jon Bon Jovi, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen, was seated. But somehow she thought she’d be up with the Obama family. When she realized she wasn’t, she bailed.” PageSix writes. While the story is far-fetched, to say the least, chances are the public will never find out the truth either way, since it’s highly unlikely that Mariah’s publicist will ever step up to confirm such a rumor.

In the meanwhile, even if the tabloids will not stop running such stories, it seems that Mariah’s acting career is finally taking a turn for the better. Her latest movie, the drama “Push,” has been recently screened at the Sundance Film Festival, and has managed not only to pleasantly surprise the critics and audiences alike, but even rake in raving reviews. As for Carey’s performance, it succeeded in shocking and amazing critics, prompting them to say that she would finally be able to make her fans forget about the “Glitter” disaster.

“Among the many delightful surprises in the film is Mariah Carey, who is pitch-perfect as a welfare counselor and serves as this demi-tragedy’s Greek chorus. It’s possible that many viewers won’t recognize her until the final credits, but like so many things about ‘Push,’ the performance is disarming.” Variety wrote in a review of the film a few days ago.
