Paul Walker’s final movie, “Furious 7,” the seventh installment in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, continues to break records and make millions at the box office. Within 17 days of release, it has managed to become the 5th highest grossing film of all time, beating even Disney’s “Frozen.”

Right now, the only films standing between “Furious 7” and absolute box office glory are “Avatar,” “Titanic,” “Marvel’s The Avengers” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2,” Box Office Mojo reports.

Based on its evolution so far, “Furious 7” stands good chances of moving upwards, past “Harry Potter” and “The Avengers,” but topping the performances of “Titanic” and “Avatar” is a bit more complicated, since their box office gross sits at upwards of $2.1 billion (€1.92 billion).

“Furious 7” has grossed $1.32 billion (€1.2 billion) as of the time of writing.

All installments in the “Furious” franchise have been successful, but this one defied all expectations. The huge draw is explained by the fact that this is leading man Walker’s last movie, so a tribute to him was expected.

Moreover, Walker died halfway in the production, so the film was completed with his brothers as stand-ins and lots of GCI trickery.

Last week, Vin Diesel, Walker’s co-star since the franchise was launched, confirmed that an eighth movie would also be made. This one will be like a test for the franchise, because it will show the studio and everyone else involved if it could continue without Walker.
