Dogs make the cutest faces when playing or begging for food, but one of the activities they seem to enjoy the most is hanging out of a car window with their tongue lapping, feeling the breeze in their fur.

Los Angeles-based photographer Lara Jo Regan, known for making “Mr. Winkle,” an Internet sensation, decided to make a photoshoot where she would capture the funniest expressions found on our canine friends when leaning out of a car window.

Titled “Dogs in Cars,” this photo series brings to our attention some of the most adorable reactions of dogs when a breeze hits their faces. For starters, Lara was helped by her friends' dogs, but she also placed a few adverts online to get a chance to capture the reactions of various breeds.

“I usually try to come up with ideas that are somewhat odd and complex to ensure no one else is doing the same thing. But as an owner of three dogs living in the Los Angeles car culture, the idea was just staring me in the face. Most dogs become downright delirious over a car ride, and I wanted to capture this amazing primal energy in photographs beyond what I’d seen before,” said Regan.

The funniest photo of the entire series is by far the one picturing three pugs having a blast while feeling the wind blowing their fur. Regan says that “A pug is naturally hilarious, but three of those faces slobbering in unison out the window of a moving car is an off-the-charts gut buster.”

Thirteen of the photos are part of the Official Dogs in Cars Calendar 2014, which can be purchased at a price of $12.24 / €9. The new pictures will be part of an upcoming book series.
