LG's first Android-powered device

Leading South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has officially announced just recently that it will come to the market with a mobile phone powered by Google's Android operating system, namely the LG GW620. The handset was reported to come to the market in Europe and North America, and now its entire list of specifications is available.

"The GW620 is LG’s first Android-powered smartphone, designed for messaging and all manner of social networking. It features a 3-inch touchscreen, a full slide out QWERTY keypad, and a 5 megapixel autofocus camera. It also support HSDPA 7.2Mbps, Wi-Fi and GPS,” is how the handset vendor describes the phone.

The specifications list of LG's Android-based device includes GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS 900/2100 MHz frequencies support, along with HSDPA for data transmission, as well as a 3.0-inch TFT LCD touchscreen display that boasts a 320 x 480 pixel resolution and support for 262K colors, not to mention the 5.0-megapixel photo snapper that sports video recording capabilities and 4x zoom.

The phone features a side sliding QWERTY keyboard that pairs with the touchscreen display and includes an ARM11 processor, complemented by 512 MB of NAND flash memory and 256 MB of SDRAM RAM. At the same time, it also comes to the market with a Micro SD memory card slot, which enables users to add up to 32GB of additional storage space into the equation.

The features list of GW620 also includes SMS, MMS, EMS, Email (SMTP, POP3) and IM capabilities, HTML browser for Internet navigation, Flash Lite 3.0, FM Radio, audio player with support for AAC, AAC+, AMR, MP3, WAV, WMA file types and video player with support for DivX, H.263, H.264, MP4, WMV formats.

A variety of picture formats are also supported by the device, including BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG, as well as GIF. On the connectivity side, users will be able to enjoy Bluetooth 2.1, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi capabilities, along with a wide range of services that come bundled with the Android operating system from Google.
