Sony presented God of War: Ascension to the world yesterday by unveiling a variety of details about the new hack and slash game and by hosting a special presentation, which is now available online.

The God of War series is among the most popular ones in the world, managing to sell a huge amount of actual copies, as well as convince gamers to buy PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and even PlayStation Portable consoles with its variety of installments.

Now, Sony Santa Monica is working on the next game in the popular franchise, in the form of God of War: Ascension.

While the game’s story acts as a prequel, quite a lot of major changes are present in the new experience, relating both to its core mechanics and to its combat systems, besides many other features.

Chief among these things is the all-new multiplayer mode, with both offline and online features, that will allow players to create and customize their own hero and then fight it out against or besides other people.

In order to properly show off the array of features included in God of War: Ascension, Sony hosted a special presentation on its PlayStation blog, hosted by its Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein, in which the game’s Director, Todd Papy, answered a variety of questions from fans.

Among the highlights of the presentation, which you can find in its entirety below, is the fact that Todd Papy has worked on all of the main games from the God of War series, including the first, second and third titles.

The game director also emphasized that the single-player campaign wouldn’t be affected by the introduction of the multiplayer, saying that the story is still centered around combat, exploration and mini-games.

Throughout the presentation, plenty of gameplay footage from the game’s multiplayer is also showcased, so check out the 55-minute video below.
