Joining the Intel Core bandwagon is Fujitsu with two single-socket servers that are powered by the new Clarkdale processor and use second-generation PCIe slots, SAS 2.0 interfaces and can pack as much as 32GB of RAM. The Primergy TX150 S7 tower system and RX100 S6 rack server are aimed at small and medium businesses and can also be used in non-mission-critical scenarios such as Web server farms.

Intel unveiled its new processors back in December and officially introduced them introduced on January 7 at the Consumer Electronics Show. These central processing units have a high computing power, integrated graphics and a greater energy efficiency besides the already well-known Hyper threading and Turbo Boost technologies. Fujitsu's new servers based on the Core i5 chips are, thus, both more powerful and affordable, with the power efficiency further enhanced, according to Fujitsu officials, by a new generation of power supplies.

"Our flexible, new-generation PRIMERGY servers deliver state-of-the-art server technology at very affordable prices, providing price-conscious clients with high-end performance coupled with versatility and reliability. The flexibility and power of the PRIMERGY TX150 S7 and PRIMERGY RX100 S6 servers make them ideally suited for general all-around use, and they are affordable enough to be very attractive to clients in the small and mid-size market sector."

The new Primergy TX150 S7 tower and RX100 S6 rack servers will be configurable with the new Pentium G6950 or Core i3-530 and 540 models, as well as with the Xeon 3400-series processors. The Hyper Threading and Turbo boost features will be able to increase the processing power according to workload demands and the high memory and expansion capabilities gives the new systems a higher level of usability.

The RX100 S6 can even offer two 3.5-inch or four 2.5-inch drives for storage and it is designed with a modular RAID configuration supporting SATA, SAS and SSD storage units. The PRIMERGY TX150 S7 also "features unrivaled system expandability and availability, along with enhanced scalability and reliability for a mono-processor system."

The press release says that both servers are already available, but the shipment dates may vary by region. Information on the entire product line may be found here.
