Although the company is not among the four producers who dominate the server market, Fujitsu is making efforts in this domain and has launched two servers based on the Itanium 2: Primequest 480 and 440. The Primequest servers, which support up to 32 (480) processors or 16 (440) processors, are an alternative to the HP or IBM solutions.

The collaboration between Fujitsu and Intel in the server domain was first announced in January 2003 when Fujitsu launched a server called Pleiades, which was mainly designed by Intel.

Fujitsu, whose annual turnover is 50 billion dollars, has 4 billions income from the American market and hopes to increase the annual turnover with 30%.

Regarding servers, Fujitsu hopes to sell 10,000 units in the next three years, which would generate an income of 2 billion dollars.

Both Windows and Linux will run on Primequests and for databases was chosen Oracle. Among the Linux solutions, Fujitsu recommends RedHat, the partnership between the two companies being well known.

Other features of the Primequest servers are System Mirror which allows the administrator to create mirrors of a processor or a memory module and Flexible I/O which can redirect input-output resources of a processor..

The customers Fujitsu hopes to attract for the new line of servers are financial and telecommunication companies.
