Fujitsu has already introduced a number of laptops based on Intel's Arrandale central processors, but it seems that the company will soon expand its lineup. The Japanese market will see the rise of two new FMV-LIFEBOOK family members, dubbed the FMV-A8390 and FMV-S8490. These mobile PCs will work on Core i3 or Core i5 CPUs and will be running Windows 7 Professional.

Intel's Arrandale central processing units (CPUs) were launched at the very beginning of the month and saw immediate adoption on the mobile-computer segment. Not only is their power efficiency superior to that of previous processors but they even have integrated graphics.

This latter feature is especially convenient for laptop makers that aim their products at very specific end users. While the graphics provided by these chips cannot compete with the high-end solutions from AMD and NVIDIA, they can be a suitable means to enjoy multimedia without the added cost and power consumption of a discrete graphics card.

The FMV-A8390 may be powered by a choice of Core i3 or i5 chips. These processors are the Intel Core i3-330M, with a clock frequency of 2.13 GHz, or the 2.40 GHz Core i5-520M CPU. Configurations can be built with 1GB of RAM and a hard drive with a storage capability of 160GB.

The FMV-S8490 is powered by the Core i3-330M chip and has the same memory and storage capacity as its sibling, Still, while the 1GB of RAM and 160GB of HDD space are similar, the two differ in the fact that the FMV-S8490 uses a 13.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1366x768, whereas the FMV-A8390 has a larger, 15.5-inch display with the same maximum resolution.

The two notebook PCs are set to enter availability in Japan sometime next week. Their starting price tags are of approximately $1,680 for the FMV-A8390 and of $2.303 for the FMV-S8490.
