Will be singing in the rain, and otherwise showing off

Some may have learned of a certain Tablet with water resistance lately, but no real mention of availability in the US was made, something that may have changed according to the FCC.

FCC filings are something that often precede the launch of any product equipped with a connectivity technology, at least in the US.

In fact, even some overseas companies sometimes file for this sort of certification, even if the product they want validated isn't actually going to show up in American stores.

This may or may not be the case with a certain tablet that Fujitsu was found to be working on in late August this year (2011).

Dubbed Arrows Tab F-01D, it was set to start shipping in Japan this month (September), but, naturally, some people started wondering when other regions would get it.

Apparently, the US might be among the lucky ones, provided the new FCC filing actually means impending US release and not just for the extra reputation a foreign product gains from having the FCC label.

Needless to say, the main asset that the Arrows will have, to show off compared to most other tablets, is the waterproof design.

In other words, rain will not be an issue, so that motorcyclists, hikers and other travelers need not trouble themselves with the prospect of gadget failure, regardless of how remote or unfriendly the target touristic spot is.

For those that want specs, the 10.1-inch LCD has a WXGA resolution (1,280 x 800 pixels) and 16 GB of NAND Flash storage,.

The CPU is a Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 dual-core processor (1 GHz), while the feature set also includes a microSD card slot, micro-USB, two webcams and even LTE support (the Japanese one does at least).

What remains is to see just how outdoor-viewable the LCD actually is and if the price of the product is tame enough.
