Even though there is still some time left until the Back to School season is officially opened, Fujitsu has already unveiled an Intel-powered notebook for this very special occasion, the 13.3-inch LifeBook SH531, which is designed to offer improved functionality at an attractive price point.

Fujitsu's new system is built around Intel's Sandy Bridge processors, ranging from the budget Pentium B940 chip to the 2.3GHz Core i5-2410M with dual processing cores, HyperThreading and Turbo Boost support.

This fast Intel processor can be seconded by as much as 8GB of system memory, as well as by various 5400 and 7200 RPM hard drive options with a maximum storage capacity of 500GB.

In addition, the notebook also comes standard with a DVD writer optical drive, that can be swapped for a Blu-ray burner, Intel Centrino 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi with support for Intel's WiDi technology, and a 1.3MP webcam.

Connectivity options include two USB ports and a shared USB/eSATA connector, VGA and HDMI video outputs, an Express Card slot as well as a multi-format card reader.

The screen, which measures 13.3-inch in diagonal, supports a native resolution of 1366x768 pixels and features an anti-glare finish.

Including the 6-cell battery that can provide up to 6.5 house of operation, Fujitsu's notebook weights about 1.9Kg.

"In the past, choosing an affordable notebook was always a trade-off between functionality and price. We are changing that with the LifeBook SH531, an obvious choice for school, home, or small business users who are shopping for an attractively-priced notebook with a full feature set," said Dieter Heiss, head of Workplace Systems at Fujitsu Technology Solutions.

The Toshiba LifeBook SH531 13.3-inch notebook will become available in the CEMEA (Continental Europe, the Middle East and Africa) region shortly with a starting price tag of EUR 500.
