Fujitsu, one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of storage solutions, has recently announced its newest travel-ready HandyDrive additions, offering the world's highest capacity 2.5-inch external hard disk drive, with up to 500GB of storage space. The new product has been designed to offer a sleek and ultraportable storage device to those users that require high amounts of free storage space on the go.

The company's HandyDrives have been built with the necessary components for safe and easy data transports. Even more, since such devices can easily be misplaced, Fujitsu has equipped them with a new password lock tool option that can secure the stored data from any type of unauthorized access. The new portable drives also come with a utility management that reduces the drive's power consumption in stand-by mode by 35% over normal idle mode.

HandyDrives can be acquired with various capacities, including 160GB, 250GB, 320GB, 400GB, while the top model can provide its users with a maximum of 500GB of storage space. Because of the wide range of capacities available, the new Fujitsu drives can be a perfect solution for storing large amounts of files. Weighing in at less than 220 grams, the new external hard drive can easily be carried around wherever you may need it.

Where performance is concerned, the HandyDrives provide a maximum data transfer rate of 60MB/s at an 8MB read/write buffer. They can be connected to any USB-enabled computer through the built-in USB 2.0 interface.

"With this 4th generation of external drives and our company's special know-how gained through more than 40 years experience in hard disk drive design and manufacturing, Fujitsu is committed to provide ideal solutions for the expanding mobile storage market and users looking for portable HDD devices with higher capacities, compact designs, and advanced data security features," emphasizes Georg Dietsch, Director of Fujitsu Storage Products Group for EMEA.

The 500GB model will become available at the end of July for a MSRP of 229?, but the lower capacity models can already be purchased in EMEA for prices that range from 79? to 179?.
