Canes are walking aides, and sometimes just things that add to someone's allure, like a noble lord or some other such person.

The Verge is now reporting on a completely new type of handheld implement, called the Next Generation Cane.

Looking like something out of a fictional starship, with its oblong and glossy handle, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G, a heart rate monitor and various other sensors. A battery is included as well, obviously.

The cane will guide holders to destinations once said destination has been programmed via the accompanying PC/phone/tablet app.

Currently, the Next Generation Cane is just a prototype, so senior citizens won't be getting one for a while.

No arrival date or price is known, not even by Fujitsu itself. Hopefully, this won't be just another unaccomplished project.
