The Japanese company doesn’t cease to amaze with its products

Apple introduced the fingerprint identity sensor in the new iPhone 5S to enhance security feats, but the Cupertino tech giant is not the only one to have such a technology at hand.

Japanese PC manufacturer Fujitsu has just launched a new laptop, the first of its kind to embed the palm vein authentication technology.

So the new Celsius H730 comes bundled with the so-called PalmSecure tech that is capable of scanning the pattern of blood veins in the palm that is unique to each individual, in order to grant access into the system.

The technology isn’t a new addition to the company’s portfolio, with Fujitsu having several sensors from the family available on the market. Apparently, they have been taken up by some Japanese banks and government organizations for which enhanced security standards and protection of sensitive data are of the essence.

The palm vein sensor will use image recognition and optical technology to scan the palm, without users having to touch the laptop. PalmSecure will irradiate the hand with near-infrared rays, which are absorbed by the deoxidized hemoglobin in our blood, causing the veins to appear in black color.

All a Celsius H730 user has to do is hover his hand over the device and the machine is capable of picking the pattern up and compare it to the owner’s pre-registered vein model. Fujitsu boasts an extremely low false acceptance rate of just 0.00008% and says that the authentication process is practically impossible to forge.

The new security method sounds pretty advanced, but if you’re wondering about the laptop’s inside, you should know that the H730 features a 15-inch display. Under the hood, Fujisu has slipped the latest Haswell architecture, meaning an Intel i7 vPro chip clocked at 3.8GHz and 32GB of memory.

Customers are given a chance to choose between NVIDIA Quadro video cards and either an SSD or a hybrid drive. There are also three USB 3.0 ports, integrated WLAN, 3G/4G options and Bluetooth. On top of that, we have a modular bay that allows users to add a second hard or a second battery.

Fujitsu usually packs its products with some anti-damage technology and the H730 is not different here, with the ShockSensor protecting the storage from accidental drops. The keyboard is also spill resistant.
