Fujifilm's manager, Mr. Hiroshi Kawahara, announced in a recent interview that the company was aiming to improve user experience, camera responsiveness, as well as to add new features through future firmware upgrades.

Today, December 19, the company announced the availability of new firmware updates for some of its bestselling mirrorless digital camera models, the X-Pro1, X-E1, X-E2, and X100S.

While we covered the X-Pro1 firmware update in a previous article, let’s see what novelties are brought by the updates for the X-E1, X-E2 and X100 mirrorless models.

Fujifilm X-E2 users will benefit from an improved RAW file conversion function that will optimize your workflow when converting RAF photos in-camera, taking you back to the original RAF image once you have performed the conversion.

Furthermore, X-E2 owners will now be able to edit image file names as follows: when using “sRGB” color profile, they can be changed to a 4-letter file name, while a 3-letter file name can be added when selecting “Adobe RGB” color space.

In addition to the aforementioned options, Fujifilm X-E1 users will benefit from a few more functionality changes. Among them we can find the possibility to view your exposure settings whether in live-view mode or on the histogram of the image, as well as the option to change the numbering for images taken in continuous shooting mode.

Moreover, the new firmware for the X-E1 enables its users to change aperture and shutter speed even if the AE button has been locked, allowing you to maintain exposure while tweaking your camera settings before capturing the final image.

The AUTO ISO function has also been tweaked and it now offers the possibility to choose a standard ISO, maximum ISO, as well as a low-speed shutter limit of up to 1/500 of a second.

If by any chance you are the proud owner of a Fujifilm X100S mirrorless digital camera, you will benefit from all the aforementioned features as well as an improved OVF (Optical Viewfinder) bright frame cover range and accuracy.
