Designed especially for digital cameras and camcorders

It's quite a well-known fact that modern digital cameras are now capable of taking shots at very high resolutions (which, unfortunately, occupy quite a hefty amount of space), while camcorders capable of shooting in High Definition and storing the videos onto flash memory cards are already pretty mainstream. That is why the most important manufacturers of imaging products on the market are coming out with their own branded flash storage solutions, the latest being Fujifilm, that has just introduced four new series of Secure Digital cards.

Thus, the company has announced the development of a Secure Digital (SD) line, which includes 1GB and 2GB models, as well as of a Secure Digital High-Capacity (SDHC) family, with models ranging between 4 and 16GB. Fuji has also gone micro on their new offering, providing two micro-SD cards with capacities of 1GB and 2GB, as well as two micro-SDHC cards, with capacities of 4GB and 8GB.

It's also interesting to note that, in order to provide better brand and product recognition for the customers, all of the new SD cards from Fujifilm will come in brightly colored packaging, specially designed with easy to understand graphics ensuring that customers choose the cards best suited for their needs and devices. Features include prominently displayed capacity numbers (both on the packaging and the card), and color-coded formats: SD (Blue), SDHC (Red), Micro SD (Magenta), and Micro SDHC (Orange).

"We've found that there is a growing customer demand in the marketplace for higher capacity cards, as more users take video as well as higher-resolution photos with their digital cameras," said James Avato, vice president, Electronic Imaging Division, Fujifilm U.S.A., Inc. "And our new compact packaging design makes it even easier for customers to obtain the best possible flash media for their devices."

Sadly, Fujifilm has provided no information whatsoever regarding the pricing of these cards, but we’ll find that out when they arrive in stores sometime in October.
