Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion might be on its way to the market with a new BlackBerry handset that would include a front-facing camera, some of the latest reports on the Web are pointing out. It seems that the company is set to unveil something connected with this at the beginning of next year, and it is already working on such a device.

According to Tiny Comb, the details come from a RIM executive, who unveiled them at last week’s Fortune Brainstorm. “Video conferencing is something that could completely change the mobile landscape and it is something we have been thinking about and working on for quite some time. You will start seeing something early next year,” RIM's employee stated.

Some rumors about the possibility that the BlackBerries would include front-facing cameras emerged in the past as well, yet this time it seems that things are about to become more real than ever. According to the RIM exec, some of the company's carrier partners support video conferencing, and that would help it a lot in the development of a future device to include the functionality.

In addition to these hardware tidbits of info, said employee also talked about the company's app store, which has had a really slow start. “It’s tough when you are going up against a company operating one platform and perfecting a single piece of hardware,” he commented. Even so, the App World will certainly see more software solutions submitted to it by developers, and time will tell whether it will be successful or not.

Comparing the BlackBerry with the iPhone, he also stated that they were different handsets, and that RIM's devices would certainly continue to see growth in the future. The BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) plays an important role in this, as there are a lot of people who keep their device because of their friends on BBM.
