2011 reboot is getting a straight to DVD sequel that is actually a reboot too

Fans of the original “Fright Night” were appalled when they heard that a remake was being made and that it would star Colin Farrell. The film came out in 2011 and proved quite a hit – enough of a hit in fact to warrant a sequel.

“Fright Night 2: New Blood” is coming out on DVD and Blu-ray this Halloween but, as the new trailer above will surely make you see, it has nothing to do with the 2011 film, which, personally, I found incredibly witty and fun.

In other words, it’s not so much of a sequel (despite being called “Fright Night 2”) but perhaps a reboot of the 2011 reboot.

It’s complicated.

Instead of Farrell’s Jerry, we now have a Gerri vampire played by Jaime Murray (“Dexter”). By day, she is a teacher but, by night, she is a very hot undead whose victims first fall for their obvious charms.

Will Payne, Chris Walller, Sacha Parkinson and Sean Power also star.
