Lindsay Lohan is determined not to let her recent jail and rehab stint be the end of her career, to prove that she’s a “damn good actress,” as she says. Her friends, on the other hand, think work is the last thing that should be on her mind right now.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Lindsay stressed she wanted her career back because acting was what she was born to do and, it would seem, she’s not about to let her reported addiction slow her down.

The star recently failed two court-mandated drug tests, which could mean going back to jail for another 30 days. She admitted to the relapse, saying she had a “disease.”

At the same time, friends say for Radar Online, she’s bent on going back to work and starting shooting for the upcoming “Inferno” as soon as the judge says she’s a free woman.

Friends, however, would like her to pause her career for about a year so that she can focus on her addiction – and beat it once and for all.

She should “put her career on the backburner for the next 9-12 months, at least, so she can focus on getting control over her disease,” a source says for the e-zine.

The time she recently spent in rehab at the UCLA Medical Center is not enough to help her kick the habit, and the failed drug tests are surely confirmation of that.

“Lindsay has been told that she needs intensive inpatient rehab for at least nine months. The last thing Lindsay should be doing right now is working,” the spy further says for Radar.

“What is abundantly clear to everyone is that the last thing Lindsay should be doing right now is work. Lindsay wants to work, and is resisting the idea of not working,” dishes the spy.

“She knows she needs help, but she has contractual obligations, and she needs the money,” the insider further explains.

In other words, even if she didn’t desperately want to get her career back immediately, the star would still be forced to do the “Inferno” film because she’s running broke, as we also told you the other day.

“Lindsay needs to get help, period. She has to focus on her disease and begin the recovery process. She needs to get out of Hollywood, and away from the people that enable her,” the same inside source insists.
