While end users are waiting for Windows 7 Release Candidate, Microsoft continues to make headway not only with the development milestones from the RC and RTM branches, but also with resources associated with the next iteration of Windows. At the end of March 2009, I was pointing you to the first Learning Snack for Windows 7. Introducing Windows 7 is a 26-minute presentation of Windows Vista's successor, and the first Win7 Learning Snack to be made available through the Redmond company's official snack buffet webpage. Still, Microsoft has now added extra and fresh content to the Windows 7 buffet for you to snack on. No less than six brand new snacks have been provided by the software giant (links at the bottom of this article, courtesy of Tamir Bar-Haim, Microsoft Audience marketing manager).

From my own experience the Learning Snacks for Windows 7 are an excellent resource to complement the actual build releases of the platform. Even testers that managed to grab Windows 7 Beta, or pre-RC development milestones are sometimes lost when face to face with the evolution of Windows. Features like Aero Snap, Aero Peek, Aero Shake, as well as the new interaction capabilities delivered via the Superbar and the Thumbnails are not exactly intuitive. Users can of course stumble upon the enhancements that Windows 7 brings to the table, or they can watch demos and feel like they have been using the operating system and the new features all their life.

This is precisely what the Windows 7 Learning Snacks are all about, demonstrations of the next version of Windows. The six new additions include videos on the desktop experience of Windows 7, as well as on how to set up and configure a home network with the operating system. These are what Microsoft labeled Consumer Snacks, but there is also content for IT professionals. IT pros can see first hand how to implement User Account Control, get a taste of BitLocker and AppLocker, the Troubleshooting Platform, as well as the Deployment Image Servicing and Management Tool for Servicing Windows 7 Images.
