Two giant pandas living at the Beavul Zoo in France are well known amongst the staff working at said animal sanctuary for their being able to produce about 66 pounds (roughly 30 kilograms) of poop on a daily basis.

Therefore, it need not come as a surprise that the Beauval Zoo has decided to get a biogas power plant up and running as early as spring 2014, and put the waste produced by these cute and cuddly animals to better use.

According to The Inquisitr, the biogas power plant will not rely solely on panda poop. Quite the contrary: the waste produced by the other animals living at the zoo, together with vegetation clippings, will also be used.

The biogas power plant will be made to produce both gas and electricity. While some of this fuel will be used to meet the power demands of the artificial animal habitats established at this zoo, a considerable amount of it will be sold to a power company.

It is believed that the biogas power plant will cost the zoo about $3 million (about €2.3 million).
