Already sold in 1 million units globally and 500,000 in South Korea, Samsung Galaxy S is scheduled to get its Android 2.2 Froyo update next month. Unfortunately, the update will be available only for Koreans, while the rest of the world has to wait for localization. There are some good news though, regarding the new update, as a Samsung France spokesman stated that french owners of Galaxy S will receive the Froyo update in September.

Samsung Galaxy S has been available in France since July at some online retailers for a price slightly higher than 500 Euros, without subscription. Virgin Mobile is also selling the Android smartphone for 29 Euros (129 Euros - 100 Euros reimbursed), as well as SFR, which sells the device for 49 Euros, available in limited quantity. Both offers require a certain plan.

Samsung's best seller, Galaxy S knocks down every milestone and surpasses all expectations, thanks to the Korean's company good management and marketing of the device. Further, the phone embeds only top of the line technology, such as Super AMOLED display, ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

Other key features of the Android-based smartphone includes: TouchWiz 3.0 UI, Multi-touch input method, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, touch-sensitive controls, proximity sensor for auto turn-off, Swype text input, HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, 5-megapixels camera (geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection), GPS with A-GPS support, social networking integration, Digital compass, 8 GB/16GB storage, 512 MB RAM, 2GB ROM, microSD (up to 32GB), and Android 2.1 (Eclair).

The confirmed update might also be a sign that those that haven't bought their device from France will receive their Froyo update sooner than expected.
