Freeway sports an integrated web design environment that offers advanced functionality, as well as an accessible user interface. Designed to encompass the whole workflow (flexible and precise HTML page layout, site upload, automatic site maintenance, etc.), Freeway 5.2 now lets users specify and include an icon for their site on the user's Home Screen, and automatically create different versions of the same movie files for viewing even on iPhone with EDGE.

"Web developers all over the world are designing rich iPhone-ready websites," said Softpress Managing Director Richard Logan. "With Freeway 5.2, it's easy to create beautiful sites that take advantage of the iPhone's great features. And since it's Freeway, you know the code will be efficient and standards-compliant."

Besides the features added in Freeway 5 (CSS menus, Google Actions, Blogger templates, script.aculo.us Actions and dozens more), Freeway 5.2 brings the following enhancements:

- Homescreen Icon for Web Clip: Specify and include an icon for your site on the user's Home Screen. - iPhone Application Links: Include mail links, phone links, map links, YouTube links. - Video Content: Automatically create different versions of the same movie files for viewing on iPhone with EDGE, iPhone with Wi-Fi/3G and for regular desktops. QuickTime will automatically detect the user's needs and serve the appropriate file.

There's even a solution to test out sites on the iPhone even if you don't own the actual device. The free iPhone SDK from Apple, as some of you may already know, sports an iPhone simulator, exclusively designed for iPhone developers that wish to test their apps every time they make a change to the code. You will have to download the SDK and register as an iPhone developer. Anyone can do it - you are not required any skill or asset.

Freeway will automatically detect the iPhone simulator when you hit the Update button in the Browser Setup menu. You must remember to add the new Preview in Browser toolbar button to the toolbar from the Customize Toolbar sheet. You can then preview your sites on the simulator directly from Freeway.

NOTE: the iPhone simulator doesn't have the Google Maps or YouTube applications installed and it also doesn't allow any third party application to be installed.

Freeway comes in two versions: Express and Pro, and go for $69 and $199 respectively. Trial versions are also available for both Freeway Express and Freeway Pro.
