The newly released ToughDrive Sport comes to provide users with a shock-resistant, 2.5-inch external hard drive that is said to endure even the toughest conditions. The new drive has been designed to deliver up to a maximum of 500GB of storage space, which can easily be accessed through a USB connection.

According to the company, the ToughDrive Sport can withstand falls of up 2 meters and is protected against extreme weather conditions. This feature is quite impressive for an external drive solution that is based on a traditional hard drive that features moving parts, vulnerable to exteriors shocks or falling accidents. The ruggedness factor of the ToughDrive Sport 500GB hard drive should protect the user's data from unforeseen accidents.
Additional features include an integrated USB cable and 256bit password protection. The drive is available in 250, 320 and 500GB capacities and measures only 155 x 91 x 21mm. Available for both PC and MAC, the drive is available for about US$219. Unfortunately, the one place you won't be able to take your Freecom ToughDrive Sport is at the seaside, as the product isn't waterproof.
