It's almost like Microsoft is taking advantage of the current conjecture and tries to capitalize on the newly announced PS3 launch delay in the PAL territories. European Xbox 360 owners can now enjoy a whole week of Xbox Live service completely free later this month. XBL is already a huge success in North America, thus Microsoft now puts in extra effort for the main land between September 20 and 29.

Ten straight days when you can freely chat with your friends, play games on online multiplayer or download exclusive content and music over Xbox Live. All thanks to Windows Live Spaces which is sponsoring the event. Microsoft is also promising a wide range of special activities, including the Halo 2 Winning Weekend, Mystery Gamer and the PGR3 Developer Showdown. A variety of competitions like "Newcomer nights" will grant casual players a chance to prove their worth to the growing Xbox community. Full details are to be released in the coming weeks on the Xbox Live Calendar pages of Xbox.com.

To make sure you can access Xbox Live during the free week, all you need to do is plug a broadband cable into the back of your Xbox 360 console. This will provide the standard Xbox Live Silver membership which will be upgraded automatically to Gold during the promotion. Hundreds of titles are available to try, including Project Gotham Racing 3, Top Spin 2, Table Tennis, Saints Row, FIFA World Cup 2006, Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo: Elements of Power. If you are a retro kind of player that prefers casual and easy to play games, Xbox Live Arcade games such Pac-Man, Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting and Texas Hold 'em are ready to be enjoyed. Since Xbox Live launched back in November 2002, more than 3 million gamers have already played over the service.
