Microsoft has just opened up the Xbox Live Gold services to all Xbox 360 owners, even those with free (aka silver) subscriptions, so the developers of Forza Horizon have decided to run a special Rivals event throughout the weekend.

Xbox 360 owners must have an Xbox Live Gold subscription if they want to play online with or against others in different games.

This weekend, between March 8 and March 10, Microsoft is allowing all owners of the console access to Gold benefits like online multiplayer or entertainment apps.

In order to take advantage of this offer, Forza Horizon developers Turn 10 and Playground Games have confirmed that a special online Rivals is available starting today, March 8.

Check out the details of this challenge below, via the official website.

"In this special rivals event we’re asking you to take to the roads of Colorado in one of the most exhilarating supercars available today, the McLaren MP4-12C. Driving across tarmac, gravel, and dirt, your skills will be pushed to the limit, with supernatural reflexes a must if you want to complete the course unscathed, let alone rank near the top of the leaderboards. To make this a pure test of driving ability, no car updates are allowed."

In case you're not up to speed with how to enter Rivals events in Forza Horizon, check out a guide below.
