Customers looking to make the jump to Windows Small Business Server 2011 can access a range of resources designed to make their work easier. The Windows Small Business Server Migration hub is now live on TechNet, providing IT professionals with free guidance from Microsoft on embracing version 2011 of SBS.

According to the Redmond company, two main scenarios are covered by the site, one involving upgrades from older versions of the operating system, and the second related to moving the platform to a new machine.

“The Windows Small Business Server Migration Portal is now live on TechNet, providing a multitude of SBS migration resources, including whitepapers, BPA downloads, wikis and community links. Head over to TechNet now to get some assistance with your migration to SBS 2008, SBS 2011 Standard or SBS 2011 Essentials,” Microsoft’s Rachel Collier revealed.

Customers can tap the guidance to migrate to Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard from Windows SBS 2003 or from Windows SBS 2008, as well as to Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials from Windows SBS 2003.

In the case they need to migrate Windows SBS 2011 Essentials or Standard to new hardware, the software giant is offering them the necessary resources to guide them through the process.

“Follow the step-by-step processes in the migration guide that applies to your network to help ensure a successful migration. The guides lead you through the tasks necessary for preparing your old server, migrating settings and data, and performing important post-migration tasks,” the company said.

The Windows Small Business Server Migration site also covers additional scenarios and technologies such as migrating Exchange Server mailboxes and mailbox data to the Cloud, moving Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 databases to Windows Small Business Server 2011 Premium Add-on or making the jump to Windows Small Business Server 2008.
