Microsoft is offering a free copy of Windows 7 RTM Ultimate with every package designed to spark the geek get-togethers planned around its latest Windows client, scheduled for worldwide availability on October 22nd, 2009. Not only this, but the Redmond company is delivering a very special Windows 7 Ultimate offering. The SKU included in the Windows 7 Party Packs for the Global Windows 7 Launch Parties is in fact a signature edition of the operating system. As you can see from the pictures included with this article, courtesy of M3 Sweatt, chief of staff of the Windows Core Operating System Division (COSD) at Microsoft, the Windows 7 RTM Ultimate Signature Edition is signed by none other than Microsoft’s Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer.

Sweatt confirmed officially that Microsoft had started shipping the Windows 7 Party Packs. Back at the start of September, the software giant launched the Global Windows 7 Launch Party initiative and associated website, inviting users in select markets around the world to throw Windows 7 shindigs concomitantly with the general availability of the platform. The company promised that users accepted as Windows 7 party hosts would be receiving a free copy of the OS along with additional goodies.

“The package may've been a little rough, but the contents are all intact, including the copy of Windows 7 Ultimate Signature Edition, various party favours and decorations and instructions on how to throw a successful house party. (We're throwing ours to friends with kids to look at the family safety features and home applications, along with plenty of pop and pizza, 'though I'd love to show some of the more advanced management features),” M3 Sweatt noted.

As I’ve said there are extra goodies in the Windows 7 Party Pack on top of the Windows 7 RTM Ultimate Steve Ballmer Signature Edition. Microsoft is also offering Windows 7 tote bags, Windows 7 branded napkins, a Puzzle Pack, a deck of Windows 7 Playing Cards and a color poster – just the right stuff to get the party started. Users that have been accepted as Windows 7 launch party hosts are scheduled to receive their party packs by October 10th.
