LINE Messenger customers in India will be pleased to know that the company is now offering free talk time for both prepaid and post-paid users.

According to fonearenea, customers in India must download the LINE Characters in Love sticker and then send those stickers to at least five friends in order to benefit from the offer.

Keep in mind though that you will only receive free talk time worth Rs 50 ($0.85 / €0.6), which doesn’t seem that much at first glance.

The offer is only available for LINE Messenger customers that use the application’s services in iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices. It appears that for the moment Windows Phone users will not be able to take advantage of the free talk time offer from LINE Messenger.

The following offer is the result of the collaboration between LINE Messenger and Groupon India and is one of the exclusive weekly deals for LINE users.

As such, it’s only available for customers in India that own smartphones with mobile numbers registered on LINE. It is also worth mentioning that those who wish to benefit from the offer will be able to claim free talk time only on one phone number.

Last but not least, the free talk time via LINE Messenger is a limited time offer and is only available for 14 days, between March 24 and April 6.

LINE Messenger is not the first instant messaging service that introduces such an offer in India and we expect more to follow. Hike messenger ran a similar promotion last year. Indian customers were offered free talk time rewards in exchange for new signup and invites.

Anyway, the current free talk time offer coming from LINE Messenger is also meant to increase the service’s customer database pool.

With BBM now available on iOS and Android, in addition to BlackBerry, other instant messaging services need to upgrade their features in order to attract more users. The fight for supremacy on the mobile instant messenger services market has just become more interesting on the Indian market.

“LINE is well on its way to becoming the most preferred social communications application in India. The download numbers are on a constant upsurge and are engaging with a far greater number of users now. We are passionate about conversations and introducing Free Talk Time (FTT) would give LINE users another reason to connect with friends,” said Daman Soni, head of India business development, LINE.
