14 DAY TRIAL // As of this week, early adopters can download and start testing the third Community Technology Preview of SQL Server 2012 codenamed “Denali”. But Microsoft is offering testers the SQL Server 2012 Codenamed “Denali” CTP3 bits along with the documentation to go along with the preview release.
The Product Documentation for Microsoft SQL Server Code-Named “Denali” CTP3 is available through the Microsoft Download Center, along with the actual test Build of SQL Server 2012.
“Microsoft SQL Server code-named “Denali” setup no longer contains or installs any Books Online content. SQL Server Setup installs only Help Viewer and related components for viewing Help and managing Help settings. All of the SQL Server documentation is by default available online,” Microsoft revealed.
In addition to the SQL Server codenamed “Denali” CTP3 resources, Microsoft is also offering PowerShell scripts designed to streamline the usage of Help Viewer in the context of IPv6 SQL Server environments.
“Microsoft Help Viewer is not configured to run in environments that run IPv6 exclusively by default. Users can enable Help Viewer to run in environments that run IPv6 exclusively by either manually configuring Help Viewer, or by downloading and running the PowerShell scripts provided,” the software giant added.
Early adopters involved in testing SQL Server 2012 codenamed Denali CTP3 should have a look at the documentation provided by Microsoft for the testing Build.
“Users who want a local Help experience can download SQL Server documentation in one of two ways:
•For systems that have an Internet connection, download the product documentation by launching Help Library Manager and downloading the content from the MSDN endpoint.
•For systems that are behind a firewall or proxy and have no direct connection to the Internet, download the product documentation as a self-extracting EXE package, and then use Help Library Manager to install the content after it is extracted,” the Redmond company added.
