Adobe Systems Incorporated has announced a new iteration of its Photoshop iOS app. Now dubbed Adobe Photoshop Express, the application adds iPad support, an updated UI, and bug fixes and improvements.

The makers of Flash describe their app, saying “Adobe Photoshop Express software lets you use simple gestures to quickly edit and share photos from your mobile device.”

“Enjoy having your photo and video library right in your hand — without wasting your device's valuable storage space,” Adobe adds.

As a companion to Photoshop.com, the online photo sharing, editing, and hosting resource, Photoshop Express allows users to improve their photos on the go, by choosing from a variety of one-touch effects, or simply dragging their fingers across the screen to crop, rotate, or adjust color.

Artistic filters such as Soft Focus or Sketch are also available, alongside color-manipulation tools, including Exposure, Saturation, Tint, Black and White, and Contrast.

Usable effects include Vibrant, Pop, Border, Vignette Blur, Warm Vintage, Rainbow, White Glow, and Soft Black and White.

Key new features specific to the iPad now include support for portrait and landscape orientations, redesigned Online, Edit, and Upload workflows, and the ability to work on multiple photos in sequence from within a single workflow.

Moreover, Adobe has redesigned the Organizer view with simplified album sharing, and updated icons and visuals that make it easier to navigate and use the Editor.

Finally, Photoshop Express adds the ability to upload to Photoshop.com and Facebook simultaneously.

iPad users have reported difficulties in launching the application in landscape orientation with certain applications installed. Adobe says it is investigating these reports.

The company offers a temporary resolution: “In the interim, you can work around the problem by launching the application in a portrait orientation on the iPad.”

“We are continuing to investigate and will post an update to address these issues as soon as possible,” Adobe pledges.
