A free upgrade offer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare has just been revealed by Activision and Sledgehammer Games, with the two companies confirming that owners of the digital versions of Advanced Warfare on PS3 or Xbox 360 can upgrade for free to the PS4 and Xbox One editions.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is set to debut early next month across many different platforms, from the PC to PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The new title promises quite a lot of improvements for fans of the series, thanks to the sci-fi setting and the many gadgets that were imagined by the team at Sledgehammer Games.

A free next-gen upgrade is available for Advanced Warfare

Now, in order to sweeten the deal offered to customers and to entice them to upgrade to newer consoles, Activision confirms that a free next-gen upgrade offer is available from now until March 31, 2015.

More specifically, owners of the digital edition of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on either PS3 or Xbox 360 can upgrade to the PS4 or Xbox One versions, respectively, without paying a single cent.

"As fans around the world are gearing up to enter a new era of combat this November, we have great news for those of you who plan to secure your copy of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare digitally. Until March 31, 2015, if you buy a digital copy of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, you will be able to download the next-gen version within the same console family for free," the company reveals on the official website.

The deal is quite impressive, as past games with next-gen upgrade offers usually charged a small sum of money. Last year's Call of Duty: Ghosts used a similar scheme, charging around $10 or €10.

DLC and Season Pass will also be upgraded to next-gen

What's more, the upgrade offer also covers the upgrade to the next-gen platforms of both the downloadable content as well as the season pass, no matter the way they were purchased (digital or physical).

The special Atlas Gorge downloadable bonus map, which is available for those who pre-order the game, is also covered by the upgrade program, as players need to visit the in-game store to get it.

"Upon upgrading to either Xbox One or PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, you can proceed to the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in-game store where you will find the option to download Atlas Gorge. Upon doing so, simply add Atlas Gorge to your download queue and wait for the download to complete."

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare launches on November 4 worldwide.
