It seems that AMD's Spider platform might become a real competitor in the race for high-performance desktop computers. At least this is what users should expect from Foxconn's upcoming AMD-based motherboards. Apparently, the Taiwanese manufacturer is working with Advanced Micro on a relaunch of the company's 790FX-based mobos. These new products are expected to run the newly released SB750 Southbridge.

AMD's 790FX chipset was expected to come with impressive performance levels but, because it was paired with the already old SB600 Southbridge, it failed to rise to the anticipated standards. But this is soon to change, when Foxconn unleashes the new mobos. Or, at least, this is what AMD fans should look forward to.

Apparently, Foxconn is really paying attention to its partner, AMD, and is looking to relaunch its 790FX-based mobos. This is expected to increase the board's overclocking capabilities, especially since they will be paired with an improved AMD Overdrive software. This software too is believed to be launched soon. If we are to consider that the new platform can be combined with the soon-to-be-released HD 4000 series, we might actually expect some impressive performance results from the next-generation AMD Spider platform.

Foxconn is a well known manufacturer of graphics cards and motherboards, and has made an impressive impact with its Quantum Force range of mobos. The Quantum Force boards are designed to bring technology and gaming enthusiasts a real and reliable platform for high-performance rigs.

Given all this, Foxconn users will certainly be pleased with the company's new boards as well. Even more, the company is said to ship these boards with a new black and orange color scheme.

In order to make the offer even sweeter, the company is apparently also working on a 5.25-inch front panel control and remote, that is Media Center capable. These products are expected to provide support to some boards in the company's Digital Life series. For the time being, there is no word on the boards' price tag, but more details should become available in the near future.
