Vampires are taking over Hollywood: not only are long feature films (“Twilight,” to name just one and the most successful to date) setting the international and domestic box-office on fire, but television shows on the same topic are also seeing a spike in popularity. To join in on the fun and get a share of the profit, Fox too is working on its own “trendy” show, Variety informs, only that it won’t be about vampires for a change.

Coming to meet the demand from the public for all things undead or monster-like, whether we’re talking vampires, zombies or werewolves, Fox has come up with an idea for a show centering on the furry creatures of the night. The project, named “Howl,” will tell the story of an entire family of werewolves, whose clear purpose and mission in life is not yet known, as the network is still keeping a lid on the particulars of the upcoming show.

“Never mind vampires – the Fox network is looking to get back into the werewolf business, developing ‘Howl,’ from DreamWorks TV. Project is being written by Joshua Miller and M.A. Fortin. DreamWorks TV toppers Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank would exec produce. ‘Howl’ is described as an epic family saga about warring families of werewolves in a small Alaskan town. ‘Alaska is a place where people disappear and now you know why,’ Miller said.” Variety writes.

That is to say, fans shouldn’t expect to find friendly werewolves on this show. “The script reflects the changes that are going on in the country, and ‘metamorphosis and constant change is the basis of werewolf mythology,’ he added. ‘Howl’ is about ‘the psychology of living with change.’” the same publication further says of the upcoming series.

However, Fox is not the only one doing a werewolf-themed show, Variety also points out. MTV is now working on a remake of the ‘80s movie “Teen Wolf.” More details on both projects should emerge in the following weeks, so make sure you keep an eye on this space for them.
