14 DAY TRIAL // The end of “24” on Fox wasn’t even in sight yet when rumors of a spinoff feature film started making the rounds. Now, 3 years after the show wrapped, a film is definitely not happening but, according to reports, Fox isn’t ready to let the franchise die just yet.
Jack Bauer will return and, if everything goes according to plan, he will return on the small screen, Entertainment Weekly reports.
“Fox is in talks to bring back Kiefer Sutherland the long-running action drama 24 for a limited run. Since the network is revving up a division that will eventually churn out event miniseries like a remake of Shogun, a revisit to the successful 24 franchise could be just the ticket,” EW says.
However, the e-zine cautions, fans shouldn’t get too excited just yet because talks are in the early stages.
Assuming that the plan goes through, series exec producer Howard Gordon, who is now over at Showtime with “Homeland,” will return to Fox as well.
