It's pretty hard to believe that such a major firing is taking place, but several media outlets are picking up on the rumor that Fox is planning to axe the entire newly selected cast of “Fantastic Four,” while looking for a new director and even a new script.

Just six months before the cast was getting ready to start shooting in order to be ready by the release date set in 2015, Bleeding Cool is claiming that the studio is planning a major overhaul, according to highly placed sources with the project.

First on their list is a replacement for director Josh Trank and also a complete rewrite of the script penned by Simon Kinberg, also known for his work on “X Men: Day of Future Past.”

Also, it's been speculated that the studio is actively looking for replacements for the main cast of the movie which managed to draw some criticisms from fans. Miles Teller is expected to play Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic, Michael B. Jordan was controversially cast as the Human Torch, Kate Mara is playing Sue Storm and Jamie Bell is billed to play The Thing.

Movie reporters in the industry have slammed this rumor as unfounded, citing the fact that Fox has not released an official position on the matter and has refused to respond to requests for comment.

But Bleeding Cool remain adamant that the change is happening “We remain confident in our source. Bleeding Cool suggests that if Fox really would like to stomp on the rumour, they stop approaching folk to replace the director.”
