Fox is on fire! The other day, the network confirmed talks to bring iconic TV series “The X-Files” back on the air, but it seems they’re thinking beyond just that one show. At the very least, they’re keeping their options open.

No word yet on a possible air date for “X-Files” or the direction it might take, but Fox wouldn’t say no to “Prison Break” either, if all the stars aligned.

Fox Chairman and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman worked previously at 20th Century Fox Television, which holds the rights to “The X-Files,” “24” and “Prison Break.” They tell EW that they never discussed the possibility of bringing back “Prison Break,” let alone sit down and talk to see how it could happen, but hypothetically speaking, nothing would please them more than this.

“There is some speculation in the press about Prison Break, which honestly was slightly news to us,” Newman says. “Although we’ve made it clear over the years to the studio that we would bring Prison Break back in a heartbeat. It’s probably the perfect event series. If our old partners in that show are interested, that would be great.”

By “old partners,” he was probably referring to leading stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell as well, besides the crew and the rest of the cast.

This can’t but come as great news for fans of the series, who were left disappointed with the series finale, which they felt was a cop-out. Of course, if “Prison Break” comes back and will include the original characters, producers will have to come up with a way to bring Michael back to life, and most importantly, to do it in a convincing manner.
