The birds gang up on the predator, force it to retreat

Most people would argue that, when faced with a fox, geese have no choice except to run or find someplace to hide. However, as the saying goes, there really is strength in numbers.

This picture shows a flock of wild geese gathering around a fox and forcing it to go looking for its next meal someplace else.

These geese, which live at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Center in Barnes, close to London, UK are well aware of the fact that “mobbing” can help keep them safe.

Tim Webb, a specialist presently working with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, argues that wild geese display such peculiar behaviors quite often. However, since there are no cameras around to record it, most people do not know anything about it.

“They will be used to seeing foxes and have developed strategies to deal with their presence and protect themselves. It is typical behavior in the wild but rarely seen,” Tim Webb told members of the press.
