The kids plan to also provide other classes in their school with clean energy

Not very long ago, a group of fourth-graders in North Caroline debuted a Kickstarter campaign meant to help them raise the money they needed in order to have their classroom powered by clean energy.

“We want to make our classroom solar powered so we can conserve resources, have less pollution, learn how it works, and tell the world,” the kids argued when they introduced the online community to their project.

Their initial goal was to raise $800 (€618.62). However, the class has already raised over $3,000 (€2,320), and odds are they will end up collecting even more funds by the time their Kickstarter campaign comes to an end this coming Wednesday.

Given the success of their fund-raising campaign, the fourth-graders plan to buy a tad more solar panels than they originally intended, and feed whatever extra electricity gets produced into the local grid.

“If we can raise $3000 we'll be able to buy 2 more 145w panels (6 total) and make more than 1kw of clean energy for our classroom. We will be able to send whatever extra electricity we make back through the grid to other classes in the school!” the fourth-graders say.
