Dropbox, the company behind the service with the same name, has released an updated version of its application for BlackBerry handhelds. The fourth beta of the mobile client for the popular online file storage and sharing service brings several improvements as well as bug fixes.

The main issues solved by the latest release include fixes for BIS and BES connectivity problems encountered by users.

Testers are encouraged to further test the client and report any remaining issues.

Also, connectivity problems were solved for users of iDen phones, such as the BlackBerry Curve 8350i.

To help with debugging the beta release, Dropbox has received a new feature which periodically uploads diagnostic logs to the company's servers.

This happens only if the users allows it, so those who do not wish to use the feature can choose not to enable it.

Besides the aforementioned fixes, Dropbox has received several enhancements such as an improved login screen and text editor, improved navigation behavior for the search functionality and several other minor changes.

Also, users who upload pictures will now see the photos in their gallery ordered from the most to the least recent.

And last but not least, in case of a failed upload the mobile client will retry to copy the file to the server.

To speed up the testing phase and the release of a stable release, the company has provided an additional 1000 slots for testers.

Users interested in experimenting with the latest release can sign up for a beta tester account on the Dropbox website.

The application, compatible with mobile devices running BlackBerry OS 4.5 or a later version, is available for over-the-air download here.

Besides the BlackBerry client, the Dropbox service can also be accessed from other mobile devices such as Android phones, iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, as well as from desktop computers running Windows, Linux or Mac OS.
