A new flavor of the Foursquare for Android application is now available for download, with a nice range of new features and improvements packed inside, making it easier for users to find the best stuff nearby.

The new app iteration arrives on devices with a smoother search experience, which also includes the availability of Explore at the top of the homescreen.

Thus, users will be able to find what they are looking for easier than before, regardless of whether they are searching for specific items or browse categories such as coffee, food, and nightlife.

“You can still find all our top picks for interesting places in the area by choosing the ‘Best Nearby’ option when you tap the search bar,” Foursquare notes in a blog post.

Furthermore, Android users will be able to see their friends and places nearby much easier than before, courtesy of the homescreen maps in the application, it seems.

“Tap on the map to expand it, and zoom around to see even more of your friends. We’ve also moved your nearby friends to the top of the stream so it’s easy to get a sense of who’s around,” the company explains.

The previously available tabs at the bottom of the application have been replaced with a drawer, accessible through the top left corner of the screen. It will provide users with access to profile, to-do list, and settings.

Other changes were also included in the new application version, including a check in button placed at the bottom left, along with a simpler way to add friends and insights on places every time a user checks in.

“And, we have more updates coming down the line, including an even better personalized map on your home screen. As always, we’ll continue to iterate and make improvements based on what people like and don’t like,” the company notes.
