Security Dr@gon, a hacker from Syria, has defaced several Turkish websites to show support for OpTurkey, a campaign initiated by some Anonymous hackers in response to police attacks against OccupyGezi protestors.

The hacker has defaced a total of 34 Turkish websites, four of which belong to the country’s government, HackRead reports.

The affected government sites belong to the Department of Religious Affairs of the Şahinbey district, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Refik Saydam Hygiene Center, and the South Antalya Tourism Development and Infrastructure Business Association (GATAB).

“I hack this site to convert a message from Syria to the world. Turkish people killed by the offender Erdogan. The Syrian people with Turkish people. Erdogan government stupid make Turkey lose all the friends in the region. We appeal to the world to stand by the Turkish people,” the hacker wrote on the defaced websites.

“Stop killing the Turks and the Syrians because history will not forgive and will never forget,” he added.

“Erdogan” refers to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey’s Prime Minister.

At the time of writing, only one of the government sites was restored.
