Microsoft Game Studios, as the publisher, and Turn 10 Studios, as the developer, have sent word that Forza Motorsport 3, the newest game in the racing series, will be put out on October 27. It is an Xbox 360 exclusive and its release is set to preempt the launch of Gran Turismo 5, which should arrive exclusively for the PlayStation 3 during the fall.

The racing simulation will include no less than 400 cars from about 50 manufacturers, although a complete list has not been released. Racing itself will be taking place on 100 tracks.

Turn 10 Studios has said that one of these will be the famous Circuit de la Sarthe, which is the avenue where the Le Mans 24 Hour Race takes place each year. Gamers will probably not be able to play the entire race, although driving for 24 hours in real time would be something interesting for hardcore players.

Forza Motorsport 3 introduces quite a few new features. Players will be able to see the racing action from inside the car of from an over-the-car viewpoint and all the tracks will have a perfect line showing, which provides the best way of tackling the track.

Driving assists can be turned on or off with a single button, allowing players to make it through the most problematic areas and crashes will be more spectacular than in the previous iterations of the series. Taking a cue from GRID Forza 3 will also have a “flashback” feature, letting players go back in time and try that tough corner once again.

The types of events include Circuit, Oval, Drag, Drift, and Timed Events. The actual calendar of races will be changing with each new career and year. Players will also be getting multiplayer modes and a rule editor permitting them to customize their games.
