The development team at Epic Games is ready to offer gamers the first details on the Ninja class for their upcoming Fortnite, which will give players more options in the game as long as they prefer to use speed and technique rather than superior weapons to defeat their enemies.

The starting ability for the character class is the Mantis Leap, which allows it to execute a double jump that moves it past cliffs and single story walls, meaning that it will be harder for enemies to see him coming before delivering a killing blow.

The first unlockable ability for the Ninja is Assassination, designed to enhance damage delivered with each consecutive strike of an edged weapon for a short period of time, which can stack for up to seven hits.

The other abilities for the character are, according to an extensive preview on Game Informer:

- Throwing Stars – Allows the ninja to throw a trio of medium-range projectiles. - Smoke Bomb – Creates a smoke cloud that stun locks enemies for a short period of time. - Shadow Stance – Killing an enemy turns the player into a shadow and temporarily reduces the amount of damage taken from enemy attacks. - Dragon Slash – A powerful attack that instantly propels the ninja forward, dealing massive damage to enemies caught in their path.

The Ninja class is rather fragile, especially when compared with the powerful Commandoes, and that means that gamers will have to use the environment in order to move undetected and use surprise to their advantage.

Once they are in melee, gamers will be able to use the various special abilities of the class to stay alive and deliver big amounts of damage to their enemies.

More details about the other classes included in Fortnite will be offered in the coming days and weeks,

The title is designed to serve as a showcase for the new Unreal Engine 4 from Epic Games and will combine classic action and cooperative mechanics, with a focus on crafting.

Fortnite is expected to launch at some point before the end of the year and has only been confirmed for the PC so far.

The title will launch with a free-to-play business model and Epic Games has said that it has long-term plans to add more content to the game and support it using microtransactions.

The company is also working on an Unreal Engine 4 title that’s supposed to replace the Gears of War series.
